Enjoy the Journey

Most people have an idea of what they want to do with their lives once they grow up and go to college or even after. For a lot of us that seems a long ways away. So what can we do right now? With so many goals it might seem overwhelming to think about all the things you have to do to prepare yourself for the future. However, there is hope, because not only can you set goals for yourself and work hard to achieve them, but you can also live in the present and appreciate the moment.

I would encourage everyone to set both short-term and long-term goals for yourself. By short-term goals I mean goals for the next week, month, or year and by long-term goals, I mean what you want to do in the next 5 years of your life. While this seems a long ways away it's important to start building the life that you want now to set yourself up for success later. You should try to build a life that you're happy with.

Start by surrounding yourself with good friends who build you up and who encourage you to be a better person. Surrounding yourself with love and with people who strive to do their best will promote growth in your life. This growth can help you better obtain your goals. A good support system will make it easy to enjoy the moment you're in. Along the way to achiving your goals, get involved with programs or activities you're passionate about. Even if joining a group or volunteering seems like an overwhelming commitment, you will gain new experiences, connections, and opportunities.

And the best part? It should be something you're already passionate about. Being involved in your community simply because you are passionate and enjoy what you're doing can take you so far. So set goals for yourself and work hard, but don't forget to enjoy the journey.

With love,
